Asymmetric Uniform-Laplace Distribution‎: ‎Properties and Applications

‎The goal of this study is to introduce an Asymmetric Uniform-Laplace (AUL) distribution‎. ‎We present a detailed theoretical description of this distribution‎. ‎We try to estimate the parameters of AUL distribution using the maximum likelihood method‎. ‎Since the likelihood approach results in complicated forms‎, ‎we suggest a bootstrap-based approach for es...

A Laplace ladder of discrete Laplace equations

The notion of a Laplace ladder for a discrete analogue of the Laplace equation is presented. The adjoint of the discrete Moutard equation and a discrete counterpart of the nonlinear form of Goursat equation are introduced. 1 Notation Value of functions of continuous variables we denote by f(u, v) i.e. f : R ∋ (u, v) 7→ f(u, v) ∈ R while functions of discrete variables by f(m1, m2) i.e. f : Z 2 ...

Line Arrangements in H

If M = H3/G is a hyperbolic manifold and γ ⊂ M is a simple closed geodesic, then γ lifts to a collection of lines in H3 acted upon by G. In this paper we show that such a collection of lines cannot contain a particular type of subset (called a bad triple) unless G has orientation-reversing elements. This fact allows us to extend certain lower bounds on hyperbolic volume to the non-orientable case.

On Laplace ' S Integral Equations

which is known in the literature as Laplace's integral equation. The contour (C) and the function f(z) are supposed given and F(x) is to be found. In the case when the contour (C) consists of the positive part of the axis of reals, the solution of the equation (*■) was given by H. Poincaré t and H. Hamburger. % Each of these authors considers F(x) as a function of the real variable *. When the ...
